This week:
We had exchanges with the office sisters and they serve on the left bank of Dnipro and I was here in center with Sister Breksa (we knew each other in the MTC!) and it was so fun to serve with her and learn from her. We met with Sister Lydia, a cute babushka who can't come to church, Alla, a recent convert, and Sister Vera, another babushka who is really lonely and has two sons that are alcoholics and live with her.
The meeting with Sister Vera stuck out to me particularly and I've been thinking about it a lot over the past few days. I don't even know how to describe it exactly, but it was so hard to leave her apartment because it was such a sad, depressing place until we started our spiritual thought with her and then her apartment seemed so much more of a comfortable place. She talked about her life when she was younger and how she knows that God is with her but sometimes it is so hard to see him through all the other things in her life. She's old and her sons live off of her tiny pension, and even with that she still made us borscht and bread and was so excited to feed us. It broke my heart a little but also was yet another reminder of how much I love this work and the people here.
We also were able to meet with one of our investigators, Olya this week! She's 19 and is so awesome and is on a search for the true church. We talked to her about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the plan of salvation a little and she said that she would pray about the Book of Mormon.
We met with Liza (she's like 23) on Friday and she said her first prayer at the end of the lesson!! The progress that she has made over the past few weeks has been so cool to see and she loves our branch and the people and how she feels there. She calls us her girls haha.
Story, we got a big order of Book of Mormon copies and we had three boxes that we needed to take to our apartment and Sister Sowards and I were putting it off because they are super heavy and it's never convenient, blah blah and so Thursday night our Elders told us after english practice that they had a lesson (slightly fishy because that would be a pretty late lesson) and so they were staying at the branch, and then we get to our apartment and the three boxes of copies of the Book of Mormon were sitting on our doorstep! They had ordered a taxi and beat us home. They are soooo niiiice. Aw.
Random other stuff, Sister Sowards now has a red jacket to replace her green jacket so now she has gone from the pickle to the tomato.
We got to be on a skype call with the Kharkiv zone for them to finish their zone conference because they ran out of time (we found out about it like 10 minutes before we had to be there and ran over to the office haha. It's always fun serving in center!
I love you all and hope you have a wonderful wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Sister Kropelnicki
